New Acura RDX Comparison in Buffalo NY

Which Luxury SUV is Right For You?Compare the New Acura RDX vs. the New Audi Q5 and New BMW X3

The Acura RDX Outshines the Competition in Buffalo NY

As the industry's new most popular segment, cookie cutter crossovers can be spied all over the Williamsville scene. Most of them offer more spacious seating than your typical sedan, and at least a modicum of utility. However, not many are quite adept at standing out in a crowd. Not many provide the "it" factor that makes one go, "now that's sweet."

Then there's the new Acura RDX. With its potent turbocharged engine, aggressive yet elegant exterior style, impeccably trimmed cabin, and loads of standard features, the RDX out paces the competition. Even other luxury offerings, like the Audi Q5 and BMW X3, have a hard time keeping up…literally and figuratively.

Acura RDX vs. Audi Q5

Acura RDX
Audi Q5
  • Power: Right out of the gate, the Audi Q5 is left in the dust, thanks to the RDX's 2.0-liter turbocharged four cylinder engine. Generating 272 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque, it clearly outmuscles the similarly sized engine of the Q5 (248 horsepower and 273 pound-feet of torque).
  • Spaciousness: What is an SUV without utility? The Acura RDX offers enormous amounts of cargo capacity, with and without all seats in place. Behind the rear seat, the RDX delivers more than 31 cubic-feet of space, while the Audi Q5 manages just over 25 cubic-feet. You can also fold the RDX's split rear seatbacks nearly completely flat, which balloons max cargo capacity to 79.8 cubic-feet. Max cargo room in the Audi Q5 is comparatively diminutive, at just 52.1 cubic-feet.
  • Standard Safety Technologies: Out of the box, the Acura RDX includes the AcuraWatch suite of advanced safety and driver assistance features. The means you get forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking, lane keeping assist, lane departure warning, and adaptive cruise control; all for no extra cost. The Audi Q5 includes automatic emergency braking as standard equipment, but other driver aids are only available as upgrades.

Acura MDX vs. BMW X3

Acura RDX
  • Power: Whether you want a little more top speed, or extra torque for confident highway passing maneuvers, the Acura RDX is the choice in this match up. Both vehicles are powered by a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, but the RDX outputs more power, making 272 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque. On the other side, the X3's engine is good for 248 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque.
  • Standard Features: The Acura RDX includes a full lineup of advanced driver assistance features, as well as smartphone integration via Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, for no extra cost. The driver aids and Apple CarPlay are available on the BMW X3, but only for a significantly increased investment; and Android Auto isn't available at all.
  • Utility: The Acura RDX boasts 31.1 cubic-feet of cargo room with all the seats in place, making the BMW X3 look quite small by comparison (just 28.7 cubic-feet.) Additionally, the RDX's split rear seatbacks fold almost completely flat, increasing available space to nearly 80 cubic-feet. Max cargo capacity for the X3 reaches just 62.7 cubic-feet.
